Information about card payments in foreign currency

  • The Bank processes card payments in the currency of the account to which it has been issued. Payments in other currencies are converted based on the current exchange rates and according to the terms and conditions of Mastercard or Visa Association.
  • Following a transaction in foreign currency, an amount is blocked on the account according to the exchange rate of the card association, without a surcharge. When the transaction is cleared, current exchange rate of Visa or Mastercard Association valid as of the transaction date is used, increased by a surcharge of 3.2%. Banks have no power over the exchange rates of Card Associations.
  • The surcharge on the latest available exchange rate of the European Central Bank is based on the exchange rates of the Card Associations. The current surcharge rates on latest available exchange rates of the ECB can be found here.
