Information about ATM cash withdrawals on MONETA Money Bank's ATMs

When withdrawing cash from cards issued in EU (outside Czechia) for accounts in foreign currency (EUR, PLN, SEK, DKK, NOK, CHF), 2 options are offered:

  1. DCC or Dynamic Currency Conversion enables withdrawals in CZK from foreign payment cards with automatic billing in account’s “domestic” currency. Transaction’s value is dynamically converted to currency of the account at the issuing bank, no further conversion is done.

There is a charge for this service of 15% compared to the latest available reference exchange rate of the European Central Bank (ECB), valid as of the billing date. The rules for offering DCC to foreign clients are defined by VISA and MasterCard card associations. You can refuse this service and make the withdrawal with subsequent currency conversion done by your issuing bank.

If you have a MasterCard, you may be offered a "special offer" in the next step. This means that if you choose to withdraw, for example, CZK 1 000 in the first step and the 15% charge appears, after you decline it, there may appear in the next step an offer to withdraw CZK 1 500 with 10% charge.
  2. Withdrawal without conversion with currency conversion by the bank that issued the card. In this case you will be charged one-off fee for ATM withdrawal, so-called “surcharge fee”. This will be displayed on the ATM screen after you decline the DCC. The exchange rate for the cash withdrawal will be applied according to your bank’s list of currency exchange rates.
